i've had worse but i've also had better.
the shrimp was good though; other than that, the food was pretty standard. the service on the other hand was pretty bad but typical for your mom and pop ethnic restaurant although our water was less than friendly and didn't make much effort to be friendly either. a common dish there that requires fire/smoke produces a strong smell - the kind that makes ur cltohes/hair stink for the rest of the night.
the tea was great.
as another review mentioned bf - the entree portions r huge!
Far be it from me to be a naysayer against the chorus of "best Thai ever!" -- but I've tried to eat at EE-Sane's three times now, and every time, it's totally sucked. Like, inedible. Throw-away-the-leftovers yucky. No mas!
Omni boy insists it must be because I'm vegan; indeed, I have yet to meet a veg*n that prefers EE-Sane to Thai Palace. It's like this restaurant forgot that you can still make incredibly flavorful food without animal products. They might need to invest in some vegetarian fish or oyster sauce, if that's such a key ingredient. The only thing I've ever been able to taste, beside a vaguely fishy flavor, is lemongrass. Loads and loads and loads and loads of it. To the exclusion of all other flavors. I know it's a necessary component of Thai cuisine, but I really don't want to be chewing a dozen quarter-inch chunks of stalk every time I take a bite of food.
On the upside, there's a little "Veg" option next to almost every single dish on the menu. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has been good. I've had the EE-Sane Noodle, Pad Cashew Nut, and Pad Siew. All lemongrass. There are 119 additional menu items, but I'm not exactly in a hurry to try them all.
They allow smoking inside, which really ups the ante when it comes to the already-drab, dirty feel of the dining area. The tables have been really sticky every time I've been here, too, which just makes me feel like washing my hands a million times.
Two stars just because omni boy likes it all right.
This is hands-down my favorite place for Thai food in the city.
No, the place is not known for its customer service, but you don't go out to eat to make friends with your wait staff, do you? If spotty service chaffes, order for carry-out.
Me, I always get things at a 2 and it's spiced the way I like it, which still means it varies from barely any heat to spicy!-but-not-too-hot-for-me. Here at EE-Sane, the numbers are more arbitrary than scientific and I have experienced one's 5 that was once the same as my 2, and once so hot it was inedible. Order low and add spice as needed. The table is laid out with all you need to dress your dish.
The appetizers here are surprisingly noteworthy, so make an occasion out of dinner and get multiple courses.
Portions are naturally HUGE, so share or expect tasty leftovers.
Meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans can all rejoice in dining together here.
Good menu, good location, bad atmosphere, pitiful service.
This is one of the few thai restaurants I'm willing to go to in Milwaukee.
The menu has a great deal of variety, and it's pretty conveniently located, but the service is maddeningly bad. They are understaffed, and the wait staff is pretty non-communicative and not at all friendly.
They'll bring out one dish of the main course, and then wait for 5-10 minutes before bringing out the rest of the main course.
Ordinarily, I would not bother with an eatery with such awful service, but the food is actually pretty good. The menu is huge, and I have yet to scratch the surface, but everything I've tried has been at the very least decent.
Another bonus that EE Sane is tolerant of smokers, and has set aside a whopping 3 (!!!) tables for us. Unfortunately, people are pretty stupid and sit in the smoking section and then make idiotic comments about people smoking at the next table (this could, however, be the result of a non-communicative wait staff).
If this place had a nicer atmosphere, better service, and used better ingredients (how about some organic meats and vegetables?!), it would not only be worth a higher price, it'd also be deserving of 5 stars!
Yum yum yum.
My favorite thai restaurant ever. Not much to see, but priceless food. Portions are usually enough for a snack later.
Basil noodle is my favorite dish. Don't miss it. Also the pad thai is good, kebob is good, volcano dishes are good, and the curry is great.
Spiciness level is out of 10. I usually get 6. Noodles are much hotter than other dishes on this scale.
Lunch there is like $5.95 and steal.

*Overall Review* 8 of 10
I can't believe I didn't like this place the first two times I went! Seriously. This is some wonderful Thai food. We have gotten take out here twice this week. They are super fast (10 minutes from order to finish). Super nice. Super Reasonable. We will probably get take out here every week, no joke.
*What We Had* 8 of 10
We've been getting the Yellow Curry, Curry w/ Peanut Sauce, Spring Rolls, and other Thai curries. I even had the Thai fried rice the other day. Don't get the Pad Thai, it's just not good (in my mind). I think next time I order something I may just make up a number between 1- 120 and see what I get. I figure since we are going to Thailand for a few weeks, and I don't read squiggly lines, it will probably be about the same thing.
*Atmosphere* 6 of 10
This is a little place, clearly family run, and sometimes a bit dingy on the inside. We've eaten here twice, Cathy three times, and the services is usually pretty good. This is an ideal take out Thai place.

Parking is an issue on Farwell at night. I take someone with me and park illegally with the flashers on, and leave her in the front seat.

This place rocks. I won't reiterate what other reviews already captured. Went to it on basis of the Yelp reviews and WAS NOT disappointed. One of the best Thai places I've been in a while.
Don't recommend going over 4 (scale 1-10) on heat. Five brought tears to my eyes.
Inexpensive, hole in the wall great frickin' Thai food. mark it on the regular list.
Great Thai. This place is the real deal. It's a small, unassuming little restaurant that serves up the real-est Thai food this side of Bangkok. When you ask for it hot, it's so hot it will kick your ass. I ordered a 6 out of 10 on the heat scale and it was unbelievably hot. Really hit the spot that day. Highly recommended.
The first few times I ate there it was good. Upon subsequent visits, the food was way too salty. Also, the Volcano chicken was just not good at all.
FINALLY! We just moved back to the states from SE Asia and have been trying every Thai restaurant and so far this is IT. Great food, great heat, authentic flavors (minus fresh lemon grass), reasonable prices. Will become a regular for us.
One would never suspect that there would be tastiness and such delightful food in this unassuming location. Somehow this restaurant has turned into my default restaurant while I am learning this city. The curries and stir frys are amazing. I usually get them with seafood which has always turned out to be fresh and not mushy like some Midwestern based Asian restaurants. Everything I've ordered has been wonderful, and the portion size typically translates at least into 2 more meals. My friend adores the Pad Thai so much that she rarely tries anything else. The service has always been wonderful. As for spiciness each time it seems a little much and I have been gradually going down a star. I think I've finally found happiness at being a 4.

I'm not sure this is the best Thai food I have ever had, but it was definitely good. I would have been more adventurous with my ordering had I not been sick at the time, but my friend's pad thai and my spicy chicken curry dish were both tasty and provided at least enough food for two people each.
The dining area is quite spare and the service friendly. One of those dive places that serves authentic, reasonably-priced Thai food. My favorite part was that they offered me a spiciness scale of 1-10! (I'm used to at most four levels.) I choose 5, which my dining companion said I would regret, but it turned out to be perfect for my taste.
