I can't believe I've lived in Milwaukee for three years and am just now discovering this place. We were on our way to our usual pho joint on National and I saw the Noodle House. That was 3 days ago. My wife and I have been there every day since. I travel a lot and have been to well over 40 pan asian restaurants and this ranks right up there, plus its cheap.
Best Pho I've had: a wonderful broth with noodles and lots of fresh basil, sprouts, lime and jalapeno. Fresh spring rolls with rice paper wrapper, very tasty and healthy with a great dipping sauce, not the usual thick peanut sauce. The fried spring rolls are homemade, and come with a great sauce as well. I also recommend the Yum Neur (beef salad) although a bit on the sweet side. They do a good Thai iced tea as well...hmmm I wonder if they're still open?
I sadly can admit we get take out from here about once a week. Veggie noodle soup, veggie fried rice and veggie egg rolls. It is really light and fresh. Good, affordable food.
I've had some mixed experiences at this place, but the carry-out my husband and I had over the weekend was outstanding. We ordered the seafood soup noodle bowl, pad ped chicken and vegetable curry and two of their spicy fresh spring rolls.
The soup noodle dish was perfect for my cold-stricken husband, the spring rolls and accompanying sauce perfect, and the curry stir-fried veggies and chicken excellent. Besides this, the young woman who took my order was very friendly and helpful.
We live blocks away from this place, and although I've ordered some things that I didn't love there in the past, I know we'll be back a lot sooner this time.
Our favorite Thai restaurant: Clean & affordable. I've eaten in the restaurant at least a dozen times, and ordered their food as carry out once, and never noticed any change in the quality of what they delivered. I've had their fresh house spring rolls quite a few times (VERY tastey, though nothing like the egg rolls you get from a Chinese restaurant--all fresh ingredients, non-fried, and if there's meat, that's the only thing that's been cooked); quite a few of the different platters; and their Hong Kong steak entree. I really enjoyed all but the duck (which seemed a little over-fried, and was a pain to separate the actual meat from all the bones--it was presented as a whole duck chopped in half). My husband says their Pud Thai noodles are the best he's ever eaten, and hasn't ever ordered anything different. Friends we've taken with us to eat there have also complimented the food, service, and prices. One thing not to be missed is their Thai iced tea... two of our friends who are lactose intolerant ordered it without the whipped cream on top, and reported it was still fantastic.
