In my 4 years at Marquette I went to Real Chili once. I don't really remember it much. The chili was good but I think it was expensive. If I want chili, I would rather just make my own how I want and have leftovers for at least a few days! But it is a Milwaukee tradition.
I love you guys at Real Chili. I didn't know you could put spaghetti and chili together in a bowl. Who'd a thunk?
The decor is unpretentious, the menu simple and the service genuine and just a little like mom's wrath when my bowl's not finished, so it is here.
I crave Chili all year round and even in the hot summers during Summerfest, I'll walk my drunken Asian ass and burn in the sun finding this place. Yes, walk. I'm not drunk driving in Milwaukee. You kidding me??
Order it hot and ask for it extra spicy and get all that stuff on top-the fixin's. You order it plain and you'll just look like a fool when you change your mind after you look at the guy next to you and think, " I wish I had what he had."
They don't accept swipe cards of any kind. It's only $5 a pop, so cough up the cash and remember to wipe your mouth.

I could eat Real Chili every day, no kidding. A big bowl of hot chili beef on spaghetti with cheese and oyster crackers---mmmmm!! The only downfalls-- parking around it is a nightmare and they don't take credit or debit cards so we always have to hit the ATM first. Heck, I even crave Real Chili in the middle of summer. Real Chili all year round!
I have a bowl of Real Chili about 2-3 times every winter and it's always good. I always order it hot but it never quite tops the scale on the spice-o-meter the way my chili at home does. And it does get expensive. A bowl with all the fixin's (onions, cheese, sour cream and crackers) will set you back 8 bucks. Which I guess isn't too terribly expensive, but a 5 dollar bowl would really hit the spot.
Basically the best chili in Milwaukee is served at my house. This is the best chili in town not made by me.

An absolute must if you have not been. The best part of the Real Chili on Wells is they serve beer.
I personally was always at the Real Chili on Marquette's campus, and was the standard place I went at the end of the night, I also had lunch here about once a week. I have had many bowls, and I recommend the "Marquette Special". Then I get cheese and sour cream... sometimes onions, and then add some oyster crackers and you have one of the best meals in the city of Milwaukee.
Great to go before Marquette basketball games, and late night to have cracker fights. I felt guilty how dirty the place always got, so I even swept up the place one night!

Wow, I found this place by accident. It must have been the hand of God. Best. Chili. Ever. No joke, worth the trip to Milwaukee just to eat there again. The sort of food you'd ask to marry you if it were legal.

Real Chili is one of those places you go to as much for the experience as for the food. A bowl of medium with spaghetti, beans, onions and cheese is a culinary religious experience, particularly if you are sober. The chili and the experience are always good.

I love the taste of this chili. You have a choice to get the chili with noodles or beans or both. I tried both, mild spice level, and it was great. There is a subtle, well-done texture and taste in the chili that is wonderful. I had cheese on top that was perfect. You get a bowl of crackers. I think I'll go without the noodles next time.
This location is just southwest of Cathedral Square, and it is open late. So you can drop in before or after Jazz in the Park or the area bars on Jefferson Street. Established in 1931, Real Chili reflects its character with its red stools, red walls, and black-and-white checkered floor.
Real Chili rules. I do not get to experience it enough but if you ever go to Milwaukee, get Real Chili, get a T-shirt, and get a bowl to go as well. Good the noodles in it, get it hot. Enjoy
