any recommendations of dance clubs in LA?  i'll be there 11/30-12/5.  maybe a place with good hip hop tunes and a laid-back diverse crowd.

Rage has two dance floors on Friday. Hip hop up stairs and hip POP down. Its in a gay club but their are plenty of straight girls and guys in the mix.

There's a place in Santa Monica on Main Street called Barracopa. It's a little hard to find, but it's right across the street from where Fro Bar used to be (it's just called something else now) and it has a big iron gate. Inside it is small and the right kind of crowded - a great crowd dancing to great music in an intimate space. Super fun. It reminds me of bob in NYC. If you want a more standard "meat market with dancing" sort of thing, you can always go to The Circle Bar which is right down the street.

Zanzibar (on Saturdays) or Little Temple (on Thursdays) for hip hop.  I think The Room in Santa Monica is hip hop-ish on Fridays.

I like Akbar in Silver Lake (gay bar) for dancing since Mickey's is still closed.
